Helping people with chronic or complex facial pain syndromes is all we do. We take the time to understand the complex and often overlapping causes of pain and because each situation is unique, we create a customized treatment plan for each patient.

Treatment Options

Oral Appliances
Oral appliances can be designed to reposition the jaw, reduce stress on the jaw joint, stabilize the bite, or keep the airway open. Customizing appliances to fit the individual improves comfort, compliance, outcomes, and patient satisfaction.

Medication Management
Medications can help manage pain, reduce symptoms, and promote healing. With various classes of medications, including analgesics, anticonvulsants, muscle relaxants, and more, providers can choose the best combination to target the underlying cause of the pain.

Therapeutic Injections
Therapeutic injections precisely target the specific nerves, joints, or muscles responsible for the pain, providing direct and immediate relief. Regular treatments can help maintain comfort levels and may even lead to improvements in underlying conditions.

Proven Expertise, Innovative Methodology
Because of our unique approach, our board-certified specialists often succeed where first-line approaches have failed. We don’t look for a single cause or symptom — we review a patient’s full health history to get a complete picture. Our entire care team discusses cases and shares knowledge. We consider all treatment options, from traditional therapies, laser therapy, to state-of-the-art techniques. Working closely with referring providers and our patients themselves, we treat, monitor, and adjust care plans as needed. We’re always looking for new ways to achieve the best outcome.
Prevalence of Facial Pain
Often the cause of facial pain is a group of conditions called temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders (TMJDs). They cause recurrent or chronic pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and its associated muscles and supporting tissues. According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, “TMJDs are the second most commonly occurring musculoskeletal conditions resulting in pain and disability, affecting approximately 5 to 12% of the population, with an annual cost estimated at $4 billion.”
